Jennifer Gimenez - Success
Story

I was 14 when i started. It was around the 13th of Feb. I went in
to see Paul. I don’t remember who it was who introduced us. I do
remember that when I walked into EastWest Models with my mom. It
was as though time had stopped. I was wearing a bright blue outfit
with a whole lot of blue eye shadow and super red lips. One of the
first things that I remember was Paul took a good look at me and
said, “Kid, take the make up off and put some jeans and a t-shirt
on”.I was so young and so naive, this little girl trying to fit in.
There I was sticking out like a sore thumb.

The rest of the agencies were like…” next!” But Paul saw something
different. He said ”I want you to go see this photographer Bruce
Weber. He is shooting in Santa Monica at the Shangri-La Hotel.
Remember…no make up… jeans and a t-shirt Kid”
So, off I went. On the 16th of February, I started my career…the
beginning. Bruce saw what Paul did. I began with Azzedine Alaia’s
collection book for a few weeks, shot a campaign, did a movie
called ”Lets Get Lost” a documentary on Chet Baker, then the Calvin
Klein campaign. Azzedine saw as well. I flew to Paris to do the
fashion show for Azzedine. Naomi, Elle, Tatiana, Jasmine… ”The
Girls” taught me how to walk in heels the night before, my mom
always in the background making sure her little girl was ok, but
never getting in the way. I worked everyday while I was there,
truth be told I worked everyday from then on.

I became
very successful in my career…an international success. Paul came to
support and make sure I was well. 6 months later I was on the
September American Elle cover…one of the youngest girls ever to be
on that and many covers after. I have worked with the best of the
best. I love the creativity. I have many favorite photographers
from Peter Lindbergh to Albert Watson , Arthur Elgort, carter
smith, the list goes on. But my favorite is and always will be
Bruce Weber, for he saw what Paul did.

I have been in the top fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle,
Seventeen, Glamour, Marie Claire, and Maxim’s Hot 100. I’ve been
book on jobs all over the world… from fashion shows, catalogues and
music videos… to newspaper ads and everything in between.
At that time, being exotic was a bit much for society. I believe
that the barriers of ethnicity have been broken as a result of
Paul’s vision. Having exotic features like myself have become
mainstream in today’s modeling world. My suggestion to girls
wanting to become a model, remember modeling is what you do… not
who you are. “To thine own self be true.”

It is a tough but rewarding life. If you are young please have a
parent with you at all times. My mom was with me and i’m thankful
for her. Both my mom and dad sacrificed a lot. My father stayed
with my brother and my mom traveled with me. They too were new to
this fast paced fast living glamorous world. Your youth is a gift
that I would suggest you allow yourself to live and then live as
you dream, because, in the modeling world, your beauty is picked
apart.

They always say “you’re either too tall, too short, too skinny, too
fat, hair too long, too blonde, too brown, too red, blah blah
blah.” I say, “Remember you are perfectly made.” Be comfortable in
your own skin. No matter what, my biggest regret…that I left Paul
due to the pressures of people trying to get control of me. I was a
moneymaker. It was hard being a little girl making grown up
decisions. The hardest part of modeling … one day you’re hot the
next day you’re not. At a young age you’re considered old. You have
no voice.

You are an object that sells. I was told, ”You are just a hanger”
for other people’s creations. The long hours and the rejection . I
am so thankful for my career as a model. I have traveled and lived
the world over, i speak many languages, experienced different
cultures, been very successful, and have met the most amazing
people. It has also lead me into my new occupation as an actress.
The world is my oyster. I am full of hope today and faith. I am a
strong woman with wisdom, knowledge, humility, sense of humor,
life, love and a great sense of fashion under my belt today due to
modeling. I am blessed and live a full and rich life. Paul, thank
you for believing in me. “One man maketh a girl.“ You are very
instrumental in my life. One day a little girl from West Covina the
next a super model. I have and always will love you “kid.”

Paul Fisher is a savant in the modeling industry. He has an
undeniably incredible eye for talent, understands the intricacies
of the industry and knows exactly how to capitalize on
opportunity.

He knows that
it is not about what you are selling, but how you are selling it
that matters. Not only did he launch my modeling career, but he
gave me advice that forever changed my life and way of
thinking.
For over a decade, I have yet to meet another person in the
modeling industry with the innate talent, ingenuity and business
acumen as Paul Fisher. I trust his intuition and business sense
entirely.

"Paul
Fisher is a truly amazing agent. Not only did he take my career to
the next level where I was able to do campaigns such as Vassarette,
editorial for American Cosmopolitan and working with a fantastic
team of people whom I am still friends with to this day. Paul
Fisher is an excellent negotiator. He gets the deals done and he is
tough when he needs to be and he is still very nice to you as a
model and this balance is a very difficult balance to maintain.
Paul Fisher maintains this balance with ease. There is no better
agent in the business to learn from than Paul Fisher. He is what
every model wishes an agent could be like."

Paul
Fisher is a remarkable person and one of the most talented agents
in the business. His exceptional humor and strong negotiating
skills made working with him both fun and rewarding. Under his
agency and management, I modeled in many European editorials of top
tier publications such as Italian Vogue and French Elle. Paul is
well respected and connected in the industry and I can’t think of
anyone better to learn from than him.
