Book Excerpt: Over the Hill at 27 years old?

How many careers do u know of in which being 27 years old is over the Hill? A professional baseball, basketball or football player? Perhaps… A Model is in their prime between the ages of 18 and 27. It is true that we can name a “few” cases of models who work well into their 30’s… But those cases are far and few between.

Sooner or later a younger, prettier model becomes your competition and your bookings & your rates will start to decline. This is another Universal Law…A "Fish-ism" if you will.. Now these young beauties consider themselves over the hill, old at 26 and 27. Imagine being over the hill at 27 years old and having no other real skill set! This is one of the reasons why “some” models get paid the big bucks. A model has a small window of opportunity. Five years, seven years.. Ten years almost never… How much is ones youth worth? Seventeen (17) through twenty seven (27) .. That is about right.. That is probably the average. A Model has a VERY short career span. And the career has an emphasis on the physical attributes vs business acclimate. MOST models spend their energy on their looks, which is normal because it is their job.. Working out, going on castings, networking etc… Thus not spending time studying business. So when a model's career is over, they end up, being insecure about their looks without a college degree and have gained no experience working towards a career in the working world! Hopefully, with a ton of cash in their pockets but that is for a separate chapter.
